Castelfalfi is a 11 sq.km estate with an 800 year old fortified hill village in the heart of Tuscany. The area is to be developed as a tourist centre and the first step was to prepare planning permission documentation for three hotels, a golf course and wellness and conference facilities. One of the hotels is a five-star Robinson Club hotel based upon the TUI ‚Art e Cultura’ concept. We were commisioned to design the landscape of this hotel.
The project design reflects the typical fortified hilltop settlements of the region. A closely knit group of buildings made up of a core area, accomodation and wellness facilities create intimate and very italian urban spaces. Our responsibility as Landscape Architects was to influence the form and size of these outdoor spaces, design them to respect location and function and then embed the whole complex into the very beautiful cultural landscape of Tuscany.
