The Orangery in Gotha is a component of the park that lies at the foot of the early baroque Friedenstein Castle. It is located on the axis between the castle and the summer residence Friedrichsthal. From 1781 up until approximately 1930 the orangery was home to an extensive collection of exotic plants.

It was decided to develop the orangery in the form that existed in the period between 1911 and 1925. This period was well documented and offers the most reliable information on the original simplified design and archaeological excavations confirmed the result of the documents found in the archives.

A masterplan, determining the work to be carried out to achieve this goal, formed the core of the project. The town of Gotha realised all stages of the work themselves and each year planted the beds with (spring and summer) planting schemes prepared by our office. The collection of exotic plants has now been established and the orangery inGotha has begun to regain its former beauty and reputation throughout the country.
